It falls under East Africa. Uganda has abounding potential and is expected to establish its economy in the coming years. The country has tremendous untapped reserves of both crude oil and natural gas.

Most areas of Uganda have usually received plenty of rain. In some years, small areas of the southeast and southwest have averaged more than 150 millimeters per month. In the north, there is often a short dry season in December and January. Temperatures vary only a few degrees above or below 20 °C but are moderated by differences in altitude.

Agriculture to support the economy of Uganda:

Uganda’s favorable soil conditions and climate have contributed to the country’s agricultural success. It has substantial natural resources including fertile soils, regular rainfall and sizeable mineral deposits of copper and cobalt. Hence, 90% of its income comes from the agriculture sector. The country’s main food crops have been plantains, cassava, sweet potatoes, millet, sorghum, corn, beans, and groundnuts. Major cash crops have been coffee, cotton, tea and tobacco.

It generates good export revenue through export of coffee, tea and other products. Since 1986, agriculture has accounted for 56% of the economy with coffee as its main export. In 2013, coffee exports were around US $425.4 million.

Uganda Public Tenders

According to Uganda Bureau of Statistics the agriculture sector contributes 20% of GDP, accounts for 48% exports and employs over 70% of the working population. With agriculture being the main sector of revenue generation in Uganda, Tenders opportunities along with increasing your business reach grows.

Africa is very well known for its sports enthusiastic from all over the world. Fifty-three African countries have football teams in the Confederation of African Football.

Egypt has won the African Cup seven times and a record-making three times in a row. Cameroon, Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana and Algeria have advanced to the knockout stage of recent FIFA World Cups. South Africa hosted the 2010 World Cup tournament, becoming the first African country to do so.

Sports government tenders

Cricket is popular in some African nations. South Africa and Zimbabwe have Test status, while Kenya is the leading non-test team. The three countries jointly hosted the 2003 Cricket World Cup. Namibia is the other African country to have played in a World Cup.

Morocco in northern Africa has also hosted the 2002 Morocco Cup but the national team has never qualified for a major tournament. Rugby is a popular sport in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.

South Africa hosts some of the world’s largest marathons and half-marathons. Some of the annual marathons to consider entering in South Africa include the Comrades Marathon, the Two Oceans Marathon, the Knysna Forest Marathon, the Cape Town Marathon and the Loskop Ultra Marathon.

South Africa is scheduled to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro from 5 to 21 August 2016. This will be the nation’s seventh consecutive appearance at the Games in the post-apartheid era, and nineteenth overall in Summer Olympic history.

Sport as a sector contributes significantly to the economy of South Africa and acts as an attraction agent to destinations. It is said that 2010 FIFA World cup alone contributed over Rs. 55 billion to the South African economy and created over 4,00 000 sports jobs. Participation in sport and recreation is even recognized by the United Nations as a fundamental human right.

Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA)

SRSA is the national department responsible for sport in the country. Aligned with its vision of an active and winning nation, its primary focuses are on providing opportunities for all South Africans to participate in sport; managing the regulatory framework and providing funding for different codes of sport.

The Government is taking various efforts to improvise this sector:

The Department of Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA) oversees the development and management of sport and recreation in South Africa.

The SRSA’s strategic goals are to:

Increase citizens’ access to sport and recreation activities

Oversee the transformation of the sport and recreation sector

Ensure that more athletes achieve international success

Develop enabling mechanisms to support sport and recreation

Ensure that sport and recreation are used as tools to support social cohesion and nation-building.

With the development of the sports sector in the continent of Africa, construction of stadium, sports related tenders and business expansion also see growth.

Kenya falls under eastern part of the African continent. It has a population estimated at 45.5 million, which increases by one million a year.
Kenya has the potential to be one of Africa’s great success stories from its growing and youthful population, a dynamic private sector, a new constitution and its pivotal role in East Africa.

The government of Kenya is generally investment friendly and has enacted several regulatory reforms to simplify both foreign and local investment, including the creation of an export processing zone. The export processing zone is expected to grow rapidly through input of foreign direct investment.

Kenya has got good importance in last decade. According to Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, the economy grew by an estimated 4.9% in the first quarter of 2015, compared to 4.7% in the same period in 2014. The economy has seen good growth and development due to government policies and foreign direct investment.

Industries like agriculture, construction, real estate, small scale manufacturing companies, tourism, and IT sector has seen great growth in Kenya. The economy has grown by 6% in 2015, supported by lower energy costs, investment in infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing and other industries. A stable macroeconomic environment, continued investment in infrastructure, improved business environment, exports and regional integration will help sustain the growth momentum.

Projects in kenya

With the increased competitiveness of the manufacturing sector which will be a key driver of growth, exports and job creation, Kenya is emerging as one of Africa’s key growth centers and is also poised to become one of the fastest growing economies in East Africa.
Kenya is said to be next hub for IT and food industry in Africa.

Social Development in Kenya: Kenya has met a few of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) targets, including reduced child mortality, near universal primary school enrolment and narrower gender gaps in education.

With support of the World Bank Group (WBG), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other development partners, Kenya has made significant structural and economic reforms that have contributed to sustained economic growth in the past decade. Government efforts are seen through a variety of tenders floated online on Africagateway for different sectors in Kenya.

Mozambique is a country in South East Africa bordered by the Indian Ocean to the East, Tanzania to the North, Zimbabwe to the West and Swaziland and South Africa to the South West. It is separated from Madagascar by the Mozambique Channel to the East. The capital and largest city is Maputo.

Mozambique is said to be world’s fastest growing economies. The country’s economy is based largely on Agriculture, but mainly Food and Beverages, Chemical manufacturing, Aluminum and Petroleum industry is growing. The country’s Tourism sector is also growing. South Africa is Mozambique’s main trading partner and source of foreign direct investment.

Mineral Industry in Mozambique:

The mineral industry in Mozambique contributes a large amount to the world in regards with the production of Aluminum, Beryllium and Tantalum. It is the world’s largest exporter of coal and gas which will boost up the GDP.

The Energy boom will also benefit the country in other ways. A string of gas and coal-fired power plants are planned by the government. It seems likely that the country will gain at least 3 GW of thermal generating capacity within the next decade.

The government in longer terms states that tourism, agriculture and possibly manufacturing will be the basis of employment creation in Mozambique. Subsistence farming currently dominates the agriculture sector, so there is plenty of scope to develop more productive practices.

With the scope of agriculture and tourism development in Mozambique, the African government and other funding agencies are taking steps for the better improvements as mentioned above. Africagateway helps you with Procurement News, Trade Leads and Tenders Information to expand your business reach in Mozambique.
