Germany : TENDER introduced for NORTHWEST HESSEN NETWORK

Published 03 Mar 2015

An invitation to tender has been introduced in the Official Journal of the European Union for a contract to operate Germany's Northwest Hessen Network for 15 years from December 2017.

North Hessen Transport authority (NVV) managed the tender on behalf of its partners Rhine-Main Transport Authority (RMV) and Westphalia-Lippe Transport Authority (NWL).

The scope of the contract consists of the operation of around 2.01 million train-km per year on three regional routes: R4: Kassel – Wolfhagen – Korbach; R42/55, Brilon Stadt – Korbach – Marburg, and R43/R94: Erndtebrücke – Bad Laasphe – Marburg.

In addition, the contract covers an option for around 125,000 train-km per year on the Bad Wildungen – Wabern – Kassel line (R39).
Bids will be accepted with new or existing rolling stock, although offers including new trains will receive a higher rating in this part of the selection process.
