Indonesia,Thailand : ARDENT announces investment in BIZZY

Published 07 Jul 2015

Thailand's venture capital company Ardent Capital has announced an investment of $2.5 million in Bizzy.co.id, an Indonesian e-commerce marketplace for business supplies, inventory and services. This will help them in tapping the huge business-to-business (B2B) potential in the largest economy of Southeast Asia. Ardent said Bizzy offers solutions for businesses to purchase supplies and services for their business needs.

Chief executive of Ardent Capital, Adrian Vanzyl, said B2B e-commerce had gained much attention worldwide. The Indonesian portal seeks to help small, medium and big businesses to fast-track the procurement for their operational supplies and services.

Shipping to all 34 provinces in the country, Bizzy offers thousands of items divided in 5 main categories: office supplies, electronics, cleaning, pantry and services.

Chief executive and co-founder of Bizzy, Peter Goldsworthy, said there had not been many breakthroughs in the purchase of supply and services so far for business requirements in Indonesia. He recalled being frustrated with placing orders for supplies and services, particularly in the process of sourcing, approval and shipping.

He said, "Merchants were struggling to meet the needs of businesses. What we were seeing was that the way businesses shop was much more complex than how an individual would and this was causing problems at both ends of the transaction."
