Discussions at last week's brief Hoopeston Area Board of Education meeting was focused on the procurement of a new bus for the school district.
District Transportation Director Mark Eighner told the board about a deal to trade-in three district buses to procure a new 16-passenger bus.
Eighner said the 3 buses in the deal had become unnecessary recently as the district eliminated some of the bus routes it used and the buses were mostly taking up space.
Meanwhile, he said, the district's bus lift, which was used for transporting special needs students, had become unreliable and had to be replaced.
Eighner said this deal would address both issues and the new bus, which has a new lift, could be bought for $6,486 after the trade-in, which is worth $50,500.
The board approved the procurement.
