Montreal passenger rail operator Agence Metropolitaine de Transport (AMT) has announced it will invite bids to operate the network and supply new rolling stock.
AMT said an operations and rolling stock maintenance contract would be awarded in autumn 2016.
A separate contract for an as yet unspecified number of cars will be offered in summer 2016, with deliveries to start in early to mid-2018.
AMT runs six commuter lines with 61 stations and 175 million passenger-journeys annually.
