Norway-based Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT) has won a transportation services contract from Technip for Scotland's Hywind offshore wind farm.
The workscope requires to prepare the transportation manual including design, procurement and installation of grillage/sea fastenings and supports, as well as stability and ballasting procedures.
It will also implement the turnkey transit of 5 substructures from Spain to Norway.
OHT will use a semi-submersible heavy lift ship Eagle for the work. The first journey is slated for H1-2017.
Torgeir Ramstad, chief executive of OHT, said, "This marks our entry into the offshore wind business, a market with enormous needs for logistical and transportation services. OHT has a long track record of providing a timely, predictable and safe service to its customers, and we are committed to demonstrating the same high performance to Technip in Norway and Statoil on this important assignment."
